I have a new to me automatic 2003 with 80K miles. I have noticed that when the engine is hot (water 210 and tranny fluid 210) that there is a vibration wether the car is moving or not. The vibration seems to be in the frame (you can feel it in the sesat of your pants)and is the frequency of the engine...speed up the revs and the vibation speeds up....this is with the car standing still. I am new to the corvette so I am looking for ideas?
Well, start by pulling your codes to see if anything is showing up there in case this is a cylinder misfiring. Do you notice any hesitations from the car or anything to indicate there is a problem other than the description? Unusual sounds from the exhaust? Poor gas mileage?
The engine seems to be running great...no codes..no misses, etc. Its almost like a "rubbing" sound and feel instead. Again only when hot. I will check the damper that is a good idea.
Find anything yet? With it being rpm related, the fan belts, idlers and balancer are all suspect. You might want to take the serpentine belt and AC belt off and spin things manually.
If everything else checks out ok,jack it up,pull the inspection plate, fire it up,and see if the flex plate has a "wobble"after it warms up.
They have been known to crack from time to time...
