Default Advice on LS2 Stroker Decision

Experts,
BTW, you guys have always been spot on concerning any technical issues. Currently, I asking for feedback on the purchase of a new stroker. I am about to change out my LS1 after about 97K. It's proven to be a great engine and has been flawless. BTW, I have a 3.90 rearend, loads of handling mods, and a mild top end changeout at 77K that yields over 410 RWHP and 400 RWTQ. Well, I feel I'm ready to go to the next level. I have a great deal on a brand new LS2 6.6 stroker w/ PP LS3 heads and intake, UDD pulley, double roller timing chain, P/P high volume oil pump, HP radiator w/ oil cooler, Honker CAI, Spec Stage 3 clutch, and a nice streetable cam. I feel good about the choice and price, but my question is am I missing anything and should I pay the extra money to use an LS3 block vice the LS2. This would be extra as the LS2 is already on hand. Lastly, my driving is to car shows, Tail of the Dragon, and weekend rides with the wife. Thanks for everyone's comment as it is always appreciated.

Have you already acquired all of the components for the motor swap? AFAIK, a 4x4" LS2 shortblock has been very reliable in street level NA versions. I'm not sure about the LS3 heads, but you'd need a compatible intake manifold, and some conversion harnesses.

Yep,
All components for swap included in install price . . . my biggest question, stumbling block, is: am I going wrong by using the LS2 6.6block vs going with an LS3 block? Also, the LS2 has all the good components: i.e. callies dragonslayer crank, compstar rods, LS3 hollow valves and all the P/P matching that can be done with the heads, intake, and throttle body. Thanks much Zeevette. There just isn't a lot of articles out there comparing the blocks.

Wrong? No -- an LS2 is a great option -- solid, reliable engine. The main argument for the LS3 is that you can punch it out more -- but an LS2 6.6L vs. an LS3 6.6L? I'd do the LS2 everytime. Cheaper, just as reliable, easier to find parts (although that's probably changing).

I think you are making a great choice with the LS2.

Thanks for all the comments everyone . . . it's just one of those things that you don't want to look back and say Da###it, I should have went the other way. LS2 stroker it is. Once complete, I'll post numbers on the performance site. Like I said, this will be an LS2 block w/ P/P LS3 heads and LS3 intake. A little twist that was been making some great numbers on HP and real good on TQ. Again, thanks.
