Default Slave cylinder question

I just got in a slave cylinder I ordered from monster clutches and it looks really cheap. The only marking which looks like a part number is D951004. Has anyone used this slave and has anyone had any problems with it? I dont want to go through the trouble of having to replace it if it fails after a few thousand miles, I only want to do this one time.

Unfortunately,I'm pretty sure there is no "better" version of the slave-and yes,I gotta agree with you,the oem is a cheesy looking POS-kinda hard to believe no one's come up with a stainless version,or SOMETHING better than the stocker with the el-cheapo plastic throwout bearing carrier, and the pot-metal construction.

I just got done with a clutch & slave install, and it's definitely not something I want to do once a year or so.

I didn't notice the numbers cast into the slave, but the oem part# on the box is 89059282,and I did notice that the t/o bearing was somewhat upgraded from the original I removed from the car(98 Coupe)-it had a "scraper" ring on the end of it,I figure it's to try and keep some of the clutch dust from getting into the hydraulic system.
But the actual slave was exactly like the leaker I removed.
Maybe they use the "good" pot metal nowadays?

I'm curious to know which one Monster sent you. Was it the "right" one with the proper 12" hydraulic line or did they send you the F body one and tell you to just swap the parts over?

My feeling is to stay with the stock replacement part from GM, it actually did get a revision, the cap area of the bearing looks different now, it wraps over the front instead of just have a flat tacked on piece. It looks like it's made to more enclose the bearing than before.

The Monster supplied slave I had had a "made in Mexico" sticker on the backside of it. It worked fine, but I replaced it with a GM one (probably made in Mexico as well but no sticker was on it) when I had driveline off later for something else just to see if there was any difference in the feel and such and the only thing I noticed was when engaging the clutch it seemed to be a little bit quicker. I really didnt pay attention to the construction of either one though when I had them side by side.

The slave is far a c5 with the longer hydraulic line. I just wasnt sure if all slaves had the plastic carrier.
