Oil filter question

I have a 2002 LS1, changing the oil this weekend (Winter storage) in my Vette and my STS. I noticed both the filters will fit ether cars. The PF46 filter which is the correct one for the Corvette will screw on my STS. My STS uses a PF61 which is almost twice the size in length. What harm will it be to use the PF61 on my Corvette instead of the PF46? Thanks for your time.

Too long of a filter--very little clearance from the road-stick with what is right-

Use the filter GM says to use-Or you can use what you want and see how long of a trail 7 qts.of oil goes--its up to you-

While your at it,might as well upgrade to a Wix #51042 filter.

I used to run the longer oil filter but switched back to the normal size. All it takes is one chunk of road debris to really ruin your day/week/month/year.

I run larger filters on some of my other cars, but the Vette just doesn't have the clearance.

I'd be very concerned about the lack of ground clearance at the filter location too. It's just too risky.

Was running the long life ac filters, got a deal on the purolator ones, just saw a deal at napa for the golds at 2 for $10 but have not verified the apps. They claim its only good till 8/31.
