Does Amsoil 5-30 meet GMs specs?

No. Their website just states that their oil can be used when you require a GM4718M spec oil. But if you read it carefully, they never state that their oil meets the GM4718M specification. It is a little misleading if you ask me.

Before you throw away Amsoil, I used it for quite some time in my Vette (now using GC) and the used oil analyses were outstanding. There are many oils out there that are not certified that will likely not only meet the GM standard but exceed it. GC, Amsoil and Redline come to mind.

redline and amsoil should be above any factory standard. redline i know for sure uses a fairly expensive process to refine their oil. bearing load and heat tests look great. tons of good info on google about this. the ferrari guys are really in love with redline in the high rpm screamers
