I took my front outside spoilers off while getting an alignment and did not put them back yet because I have new ones to install. I was wondering...... what happens if I don't put them back on? Does it affect handling or cooling in any way? I assume that they are there to reduce the air flow going under the car and prevent lifting, but at what speeds? Any one have the answer to this query?
Re: Front Left & Right Spoliers....Required???? (shizon'00)
Shizon'00 I'll bet you wish that you had the red junk to play with even if it is not a C5!  I get to play with this F355 and it costs me nothing. I store it for a friend who's garage is already full of other toys. It is a 1995 and between the two of us driving it occassionally it only has 3400 miles on it. Good deal huh? When he wants to use it for a few days he leaves the NSX or the Lexus SC430 in it's place so I get to play with other big boy toys. I keep them clean and he pays for them. Honestly, the C5 is still the best of the lot and that one is mine! If you ever get a chance to drive a Ferrari, go for it. They are a cool car, but where can you go with it? I'm afraid to leave it parked anywhere. It is a great ride to go pick up a pizza in a big hurry!!
Re: Front Left & Right Spoliers....Required???? (FredC5)
I believe the side ones are just there for looks. The center one, however, is used for directing air through the radiator at high speeds.
I damaged my center one on a roadtrip once and had to remove it. I did not notice any difference in coolant temperatures while just highway driving. However, I have a feeling if I was driving real hard around a roadcourse without the center piece on, that I would have some cooling issues.
Re: Front Left & Right Spoliers....Required???? (FredC5)
I took my side ones off and cut an inch off the center one and I've had it to 150 a couple times and the car felt very stable. BTW how do you get friends like that? I wish I knew someone who would let me take care of their Ferrari
