I know I have read that you need to raise the rear of the car when you change the oil, however when I had the dealer do it the last time they just put it up on the rack flat and changed it. I looked in the manual and didn't see anything about it
while it's not necessary to raise the rear of the car to drain the oil, it helps in getting more of the old oil out of the crankcase. on my 2000, if changed with raising the rear and a 20 minute drain, i get an extra .25 qts out of the crankcase. it probably doesn't make a hill of beans, just some people are sticklers about oil changes and procedures. by raising the rear, my coupe takes 6.75 qts to fill (with new filter). its probably more important to install a quality synthetic rated filter such as the pf ultra or mobil 1 filter. hope this helps -
