Hello all,
This is my first time posting on this forum. I just recently became a vette owner. Now I understand.
I changed the oil in my car over the weekend and I am having a hard time resetting the oil life indicator. I have followed the manual which says to hold the reset button for two seconds (I have held it up to 20 sec). The old oil life will clear and three underscores appear but that is all. Is there something else I can do to reset the oil life?
Thanks,
cat..
I put in the car in the garage and went to read the manual. I came back and started the car. It idled at about 1200rpm.
Message came on, reduce engine speed. I went ahead and shut it off. The next morning, I pulled out to run an errand and the engine light came on. The next time I started the car (30 minutes later), the engine light was off.
It hasn't came on since.

Mine did not want to reset when using the proper procedure either but I was doing this with the driver side door open. When I closed the door and went through the sequence it worked!  What difference having the door open as opposed to closed while doing this I don't know, but it worked when the door was closed.
I got lazy and let mine go so now it says CHANGE OIL NOW
I can't get that to go away.... Went through the procedure three times and it still says it.
