I have a 1999. Will other years Keyless Entry Fobs work? I do not care if they do not do the passive entry deal, just to unlock and lock doors. I notice that 1999 specific ones are about 10 X as expensive as other C5 fobs.
1997 to 2000 will work. All these are expensive compared to the 2001 – 2004 fobs.
The 2000 car does NOT have the passive function, so while a 97 – 99 fob will work on a 2000 car to unlock the doors, etc., the passive switch does not come into play.
Of course the 2000 fob itself does not have a passive switch, but other functions will work on the 97 – 99 cars.
Lastly you can install a 2001 – 2004 RECIEVER in place of the original receiver, which will allow the use of 2001 – 2004 fobs, HOWEVER, then the tire pressure monitors must also be upgraded to the 2001 – 2004 type.
The “receiver” is the communications link for both the keyless entry fobs AND the tire pressure monitors. (So you cannot mix different generations of fobs & TPMS on the same car at the same time.)
New FOBS and TPMS must be programmed to the car before they will function.

Thanks in advance
I agree with the post concerning the TPMS and different fobs with different recievers. Good info. As for the cost of older year C5's parts costing more than other years that's the nature of an aging vehicle. A throttle body for my wifes 2002 nissan sentra cost $691.00 Out of production and remanufactured. Newer years were a quarter of the price.
