I have a 2000 coupe A4 with 4 codes in the DIC. Here's the codes that are giving me fits 1248, 1285, 1288 and 1296. Do anyone know what triggers these codes? I changed my BPMV today because the original one was bad.

You have a few different issues. The ones to worry about are: 1285, 1288 and 1296.
1285 is a lateral accelerometer problem. That sensor is under the passengers seat rail under the carpet. You need to remove the seat and make sure that its CLEAN AND DRY. It often gets wet and the connector corrodes. Check those pins and the sensor and make sure its clean and dry
1288 is the SWPS Steering Wheel Position Sensor. Common issue. First make sure it properly connected. its at the base of the steering column in the drivers foot well. If it tight, you will most likely need to replace it.
1296 is the Master Cylinder Sensor open or shorted. Check the electrical sensor on the brake master cylinder and make sure it properly connected. I will have to check the service manual on that one.
Thanks for the info. I have to take the car to the dealer to bleed the brakes after I replaced the BPMV. Hopefully the codes will go away. I never had these codes before I removed the pump.
