I just noticed this light

There is a light on the right hand side of my rearview mirror. I'm not talking about the map reading lights. Just one amber colored light on the bottom of the rear view. Is it so you can see the parking brake handle?

The purpose is to illuminate the shifter, but depending on how people have their mirror adjusted it doesn't always do that.

I swapped to a rear view with temp and compass and I can say I do miss it.... a little anyways.

I never realized it had this light either until I saw this post. Last night while I was driving, I remembered seeing the post, and sure enough, there it is.

I have had the car over a year, and still I am finding new things thanks to this forum!

Does anyone how to change this light out for perhaps a brighter one? I do not really want to add accent lighting to the vette, but would like a little more lighting on my center console. Anyone done this before?
