Default Help Diagnosing Transmission Shifting Issue

I have noticed a trend when the car is cold.

Shifting into second gear the car either clunks really hard or even grinds into second even with the clutch all the way in.

When the car warms up it shifts normal.

At first I thought I might have a bad shift fork or synchro. But now that I realize that it only happens the first few shifts when cold I'm thinking it might be something else.

My first guess is that it is low on transmission fluid. Is that a possibility?

Any experts out there know what's going on?

Thanks in advance!

More information.

2002 Coupe 55,000 miles. C6 shifter, stock otherwise. Had a new clutch put in at 38,000 miles at the Chevy dealership.

I would try a fluid change and see if that helps.

If not is probably a synchro starting to wear.

Another vote: Step 1 = change the fluid.
