I have a 2003 c5 z06 and I want to make it into a hardcore street/race car. Comfort and noise are not an issue. Main purpose is durability, top speed and acceleration. I was first thinking of going twin turbo but I want alot of horsepower without blowing up. I guess I would be happy with 600whp+. But then I started looking at engine swaps and i was thinking of going with a chevy crate engine or maybe one of the new LS7 engines. Any suggestions would be of help. Also what is the biggest most powerful chevy engine that can fit into the c5 engine bay? I will prob drive the car 2-300miles per month so its just for fun.

^^Your best bet is to go the forced induction route. You can easily achieve 600rwhp, maintain the drivability of the car, and do it less expensively than if you go NA.
However, with that power level you will need to improve your drive line to handle the increased power and also some wider rims and tires. Might want to mini-tub the rear.
What good is high hp when you can't hook the tires anywhere in the first 3 gears? Downshift at 100mph into 4th and punch the gas, the turbos hit and you loose traction.
If I was about to dump cash into a setup, I'd keep it simple using some 317 casting heads to lower compression and bolt up an A&A superchager kit with an 8 rib pulley system. 10 psi with a good clutch.... and enjoy.
Put some money into the brakes, tires, and a safety harness.
