Does anyone, by chance know the size of the hole in the Caliper Mounting tabs on the Hub? I need to do some critical measurements for a Big Brake kit and I need to insert a rod the exact diameter of the mounting holes to take some measurements off of....
I just took my uprights off a couple of days ago. I'll bring one to work today and measure it for you. We're not allowed to lounge around today like you guys are. Happy Thanksgiving!
OK Tim, I measured the hole diameters, the distance between them, their distances out from the center of the hub, and how much the mounting tabs are offset inboard from the hub face. Made a nice little sketch. And forgot it at work.
I'll scan the drawing in for you tomorrow, but...
**from my (bad)memory**
The mounting holes were .574" diameter, 5.024 between them, on a 4.200 circle (both are 4.2" from the center of the hub). The mounting ears are exaxtly 1.000 thick, and the outer face of the ear is 2.420" inboard of the mounting face of the hub (what the rotor fits against).
I'd hold off ordering ur custom carbon rotors and forged 8 piston monoblock calipers until I check how good my memory is...
Damn and I had my Penny jar all ready to bust open too to get those carbon rotors ordered and on a plane!
Hey I REALLY appreciate it!!! I owe you one, maybe two!
Hole diameter .574".... Now I just have to find a rod that's .547" in diameter!
Tim
.574, unless I tell you otherwise 2morrow. What are you trying to measure. Maybe I can measure it for you in the toolroom I treat as if it were my very own...
All the crap in my car still works, thank God, but I'll keep you in mind when that changes. I read some of your LED threads, and it really made
me want to change out some of the lights in my interior. I chilled on the idea a little when I understood that LED's have a relatively focused output. Appearently, if the angle is too big, you won't see too much? Is there anything you can do to diffuse the light a little?
PM me your EMail address and I'll send you the .pdfs on the instructions for what they need measured. They also need the distance from the face of the hub to the face of the mounting tabs.
You can spread the light beam out pretty well by cutting the tip off the LED.
I don't think a professional draftsman would even wipe his a$$ with a drawing like this..but it's got all the info you need. My memory really does suck, though!
AWESOME! But I need to wait for you to verify the measurements right????
Tom if you store your Vette, send me all your components and tell me what Color LEDs you want. All I ask is that you cover the LED cost and shipping.
Tim
Thanks for the gracious offer Tim! I'm still sittin in the fence with the LEDs. I wish I could see what it looks like in person. If I go this way though, I'll hit you up for sure!
The dimensions in the drawing above are all correct. There are certainly tolerances associated with all of them, so yours won't be *exactly* like mine. Hell, all four uprights on MY car would probably measure a little different. The tolerances are probably pretty tight, though.
Good luck. Let me know if there's anything else I can help with!
One Q... and I feel stupid asking this as I should know it but I assume this is for the Front only correct?? I'll just need to get off my duff and do the rears now.
Tim, all four are the same, as far as these dimensions go. The front left upright is used on the right rear, and the front right is used on the left rear. GM cost cutting, I guess!
