Default Are 1999-2005 pcm interchangeable

I've got an 1999 ls1 engine Tow company fubared the pcm. As with any computer equipment as soon as the next one comes out the old is slow and obsolete therefor Can I use a newer model pcm.
With slight mods as ls6 intake, heads, cam the motor is basically a ls6.
What pcm should I start with, I'll have to have it reflashed and have items deleted or turned off

Thanks for help.

The short answer is nope.

The longer answer is that you can switch PCM "years" by rewiring the connector plugs. here's a how-to on switching a 97-98 to 99-02 PCM but the principle is the same for all swaps. You will get an idea if this is something you want to try...

Honestly, however, there is nothing to be gained if you already have a 99. Just replace it with the correct replacement PCM from the auction site.

looking at the pcm pin locations the 99-05 are the same. As this is an engine swap I'm not going to need all the bells and whistles.
Thanks

Not sure what schematics you are looking at, but 99-05 are not the same pinouts............

Yep, the pinouts are definitely *not* the same for 99-05, and certainly not for 99-02 to 03-04. 2004 is the last year of the C5 model. C6 pinouts are definitely not the same.

Basically, each year and each model gm car has a different pinout.

C6 (05-present) Its a CAN buss controlled network. The PCM Plugs are completely different than a C5 PCM plug.

I printed out the pcm connector end views for 99-02 dam all those years of school I think I can read Pin location, wire color, circuit No., and function are all IDENTICAL. 87-88 are different, 03+ are also diff.
But 99-02 are the same.

Your first question was 99-05 then you went to 99-02, then talked about 87-88. I think part of the problem here is fingers on the keyboard. Is your question "are the 99-02 pcm's interchangeable?" No way are the 99 and 05 the same.

I fixed my typo. Not peeing in my cheerios at all

As my first post said, just replace with the 99-02 replacement (which is an 02 PCM).

Your original question, that I answered was, are the 99-05 pcm's interchangeable. I told you no. What other useful information did you expect. Ask the question you want answered and you may get the answer you expect. Your question was answered by several people trying to help you and you got snotty. Sounds like you've already made up your mind, so why ask.

Apparently, not only are you a jerk, you can't read. Go back and read your first post. "Are 99 and 05 PCM interchangeable"
Find your help somewhere else, I'm done.

I answered you. Then your posted some nonsense. Many of us corrected your flawed statements. You repeated the flawed statements and coped an attitude. People tried to point out that you maybe "fat fingering" your posts leading to confusing. You acted like a jerk and continue to do so.

Tell you what, chum. Go buy your 2005 PCM that is "faster" and "better" and install it. Then report back.
