Could someone tell me why my 2003 / C5 vert with only 18,000 miles with no modifications wants to pull to one side on certain roads when I am breaking. It seams to pull to the right but it has does it to the left also sometimes it takes a lot of effort to pull it back to center sometimes. I find this kind of odd it would do this, I checked the tie rods and they are fine, nice and tight. Is there a centering sensor on the steering wheel or something I don’t know about that could be bad? My car has stock wheels and tires. Other than that it tracks straight as an arrow.
I'm not sure what type of road you're on when this happens so I'll simply tell you of my experiences. About 1/2 mile from my home is a 4 way stop on the blacktop roads I travel. This road get heavy usage and has a lot of farming heavy truck traffic. Sometimes when I brake to a stop at this intersection, I get a strong pull one way or the other. It's caused by the irregular surface condition of the backtop road surface close to the stop signs. When one of the front wheels is in a "grove", it seems it tends to catch or drag and cause the pulling. You might want to pay attention to the road surface when this happens. Some of the time it's even difficult to see the exact road condition causing the pulling. Does it ever do this on newer, good condition Cement roadways or only on Blacktop roads? Mine only happens on well used Blacktop roads with some level of deterioration. Good luck, Ron

Yes it seems to happen on cretin roads with more or less ridges or grooves and it could pull to the left or right for no reason. I thought it was the 17” & 18” wheels and tires molding to the grooves in the road like on a slot car track trying to find it’s nitch sometimes its a really hard pull it takes a lot to center it again?
Sounds EXACTLY like mine, hard to pull straight. I believe you now know the problem is NOT your car, it's how your wide tires react to particular road surfaces! Good luck, Ron
Never had it happen in the Vett, but I found that on my Jeep the caliper pins were not lubed very well and the RF disc was not retracting all the way and it was pulling to the right.
Here is some additional information for you. The type of tires on your car and the condition they are in can have a dramatic impact on your car wanting to follow irregularities in the road. This is called "tramlining".
Many cars with wide tires and quick steering coupled with the short wheel base have this condition, pretty much the nature of the beast.Sportscars are supposed to give you feed back and road feel, not insulate you from it like grandma's Buick.

Somone said this, it is pretty much the nature of the beast. Sportscars are supposed to give you feed back and road feel, not insulate you from it like grandma's Buick.
I don't think it is road feel or feed back when it pulls so hard to the right that you almost side swipe a guard rail going over a bridge so until it happens to you you must still be driving grandma's buick
