Default 160 Degree Tstat with stock computer programming will it set off the CEL?

I know some cars will set off the check engine light if you get too cold of a Tstat without programming. Is this the case with the C5? Is 178 a better choice? Stock appears to be 195 so 160 is a lot colder. Im use to going from 195 down to 180 degree tstats in my past cars.

The stock thermostat can be modified to open at lower temps by using a small shim. Cost is about $1. I prefer the 180 but it is colder up where I am than your location.

My car came with a 160*F and it runs on the highway at 175-185 cruising. No CEL's. No reprogramming of nothing. I have a 2000.

A 160 degree thermostat will not set a trouble code and turn on the MIL on the C5. I've found that a stock 187 degree thermostat, that's been modified following vettenuts writeup, will maintain coolant temperatures in the 180-185 degree range at cruising speeds.
