How much air is required for a c5 with h/c lt headers? I read all the posts about CAIs, larger TBs and manifolds. Then I read the dyno results from TPIS and I ask, "what do you get for the money spent and do I really need all that exspensive stuff?" I read that a stock airfilter with a Z06 cover flows 383 CFM and a stock TB can flow 582 CFM. What can a stock ls6 manifold flow? How much does my engine need? How much can it handle? Is there a "bottle neck" in the system? Anybody out there got numbers?
Those numbers just seem kind of low to me, especially for a Z06.
Back in the old days, a Holley R-3310 carburetor was rated at 780 CFM.
"Back in the old days", we got (maybe) 180hp at a sbc crank with a ROCHESTER 4GC and ten miles to the gallon...with drum brakes, 6.70x15 tires, no a/c, power steering, power brakes, seats, doors or windows...and only an AM radio!
