I want to do an oil change this weekend (1,500 miles on the car) but I can't find any UPF-44 filters in my area. All the GM dealers say they don't have them but can order them and have it in next week. Well, I want to change the oil this weekend, not next weekend. I have used Mobil1 Oil Filters in my C4. What model Mobil1 Oil Filter fits the C5? Is it the M1-102? Any reason why I shouldn't use the Mobil1 Oil Filter?
Thanks!
Thanks!
Dave, it is number M1-107 for the Corvette. I have used this filter on two oil changes (2001 coupe) and it works just fine, no noticible difference than the AC filter actually.
Have you thought of using the standard PF-44 filter. The PF series filters are used by the GM Tech Center for all their engine testing (which includes running the engines for days on end at full power). The PF series are my choise for a '99 with 200K, '95 Impala with 326K and a '91 Caprice with 409K. Besides, they cost $2.95 and usually have a 10% discount. The real trick is the miles between oil changes = 3 to 5K for Mobil-1 and 2-3K for dino oil.
Dave,
Pep Boys used to carry them but the boxes were always ripped and I don't like that place anyhow. I put a Mobil-1 on mine this past fall because I couldn't find the UPF at the time and they weren't to be made anymore. I would just go with the M-1 filter, and if you want the other plan it for the next change.

CJS is right. I just checked the garage, it is Mobil M1-107
I used this filter since day one. I always buy 12 at a time so I never run out. No problems. Since I feel they are heavier than the UPFs, they must have a thicker can.

You shouldn't notice any difference between the Mobil 1 and the AC filter. I chose to go with the AC Gold filter (UPF44) because I was ordering some things from Ken Fichtner and had him throw 5 filter in with the order.
