We have a few FlameBalls in stock. The 3-Color is $40.00, and the 5-Color is $45.00. We also have an install kit for $15.00 that we recomend you order. They take a while to get if we do not have them in stock. You can call Jen at 262-642-4026 to see what we have. They look great, and we will post some PICS on our site in the near future.
just ordered but didnt see the install kit or the flame *****
1. It is necessary to pull the leather out from under the plastic collar to make it look nice. If you don't the bottom portion of the spring will show.
2. It was VERY easy to install and took me less than 15 minutes to complete the job from start to finish. Unlike Jim's, the leather boot came out from under the plastic collar on my shifter almost effortlessly once I got it started.
3. I LOVE it!
I may change to a shorter shifter **** though. The adapter raises the height of the shifter slightly anyway and the shifter I have is on the tall side so I may go with either a Momo Carbon Fiber F16 or, most likely, the Cobra Carbon.
You know, I just got back from taking it for a "test drive" and I actually like the height of the shift **** as it is. It's just about perfect for me to rest my hand on when in OD or D with my forearm on the console. I think I may leave it just like it is.
Well, after having the present shifter **** on for several days now, I've decided that my first impressions were correct and I think it is , in fact, a little too tall, so I'm getting an F16 carbon fiber/aluminum shifter **** as a replacement. As you can see in this photo, it's a lot shorter than the one I have on there now. What do you think of it?
Just got back in town. You are going to love the MOMO. I actually drilled out the hole a little deeper on my 6-Speed to get it a little lower. The Carbon Fiber is held on with a screw. You can take it off and then drill it deeper. Just be sure when you screw the top back on you use a screw that is shorter so you don't go through the carbon fiber. Glad you like it.
Installed my adapter & a Flameball Friday night. Pretty easy install. Followed the instructions on the website. http://www.cau-llc.com/flameballins.htm For the A4, getting the bulb up the shifter was a little tough, it dosn't come apart like the M6 shift boot, so it was a little tricky. I took off all the center console trim to get under the A4 shifter, but thats ok, it gave me the oppertunity to clean everything real well. The only problem I ran into is the instructions state Just attach one of the splice connectors to the orange wire, and connect the other splice connector to the brown with white stripe wire. as it turned out, on mine the orange wire goes to the accessory plug and is a constant hot. The correct wire on mine was the solid light brown right next to the brown/white on the traction control plug. I'm not sure why there is a diffrence, but something to keep in mind.
Jeff, thanks for that tip on the wires!! I assume that the wiring will be the same on my '98 vert as on your '98 coupe. Plan to do the install this weekend!!!
I can't stand all these companies selling "carbon fiber" stuff. What you see is actually plastic with a carbon fiber "pattern" painted on the surface. You can tell when you look close that there is no "weave", just alot of painted silver rectangles. Real carbon will reflect differently in any change in angle of the lighting. I wish they would advertise it as a carbon fiber "look" like some companies do to avoid high return rate when you get the part you thought was real carbon and it turns out to be simulated. I love the shape of that shifter though. Just a heads up for someone thinking about draining their wallet for a "wannabe" product.
Well, I for one, was well aware of the fact that it's not real carbon fiber, but yours is a good tip. You can usually tell by the price asked for the "carbon fiber" item! Now, after seeing what they wanted for my GM engine cover.......I knew that was real!

I'll try and post some pics when I get time.
Interesting!!
Jeff, do you have Active Handling or just Traction Control? That maybe the difference. On my AH connector, it was orange and the brown w/white stripe side-by-side.

I just have traction control.....that may be where the diffrence is. I also looked again and it brown/white and brown......not light brown as I had previously posted. Heres a pic:
