eh, give him a break. Its his car. regardless of what yall think of it, if he likes the way it sounds then more power to him, that just means he doesn't have to buy a set of aftermarket mufflers to be satisfied
i have the borla straight pipes and i reallly like them, and get alot of compliments on them. relatively inexpensive and noticeable. you do get a lil bit of drone onthe highway but im also on 4.10's

This agrument is BS. When I'm out and have to sit next to or worse behind a bike/car with straight pipes I have to hear all that NOISE and breath the STENCH-the owners don't, they are in front of their noise machine.
If everyone did anything they wanted, anytime the wanted the world would be even more screwed up than it is already-I say the cops ought to really crack down on this stuff. With modern technology your car does not have to sound like an old dump truck to have good power-I say speak softly and sneak up on the other guy.

Wow. A Corvette with straight pipes sounds like an old dump truck For sure get the cops on this, and while they're at it I don't want to smell cigarette smoke from other drivers, hear their music, see them pick their noses, or read stupid bumper stickers. More power to the police! There seems to be quite a generation gap in this thread.

Ok, now this thread has gone too far.....what's wrong with picking your nose?

Guess you never got hit by a flying cigarette when you were on a motorcycle before
Back in the early 60's I had some friends that poked holes in their Mom's muffler with an ice pick to get that "manly" sound.
Even had one kid drain the coolant out before a race so the drag from the water pump would be reduced - I'm serious.
Then there was the kid who took the air filter off - the engine backfired and caught the carb on fire. All he had to put it out with was a handfull of sand and gravel from the side of the road. It smoked a bit after that.
And of course there was the one who revv'd to 4000, then dropped it in Drive to get a short burn-out going.. Actually managed to do it several times before calling the tow truck.

Every generation has to learn the hard way.
To bad we won't be around to hear the "kids" of today advising their younger generation counterparts..."watch out for that Xenon motion generator when it gets hot."

ACTUALLY. . . I know a few guys that went straight pipe AND it sound fantastic. The Vette is the only car I know of that you can eliminate the mufflers and it sounds better than ever!
As a matter of fact I challenge anyone to listen to and tell a Vette with straight pipes from one with aftermarket exhaust.
I disagree, putting on straights sounds like the car is broken

Nice!! I hope you never get behind me in my Vette or my bike: LT headers, no cats, Borla Stingers, and a MS3 cam (236/242 .609 lift). I love the sound and yes we do get the smell!!! Just depends on how the wind is blowing.
