Default Questions about catback-to-midpipe connection

My 'vert is tucked away for the winter so I can't just crawl underneath and answer my own questions. I just picked up a Z06 Ti muffler pair to be put on in the Springtime.

1. Is there a gasket that goes between the over-the-hump flange and the midpipe flange?

2. What size bolts hold these two pieces together? I want to buy some new SS bolts and nuts.

Thank you!

I use these gaskets. Remflex RF8020. They seal very well and are pretty cheap too. The bolts are 3/8-16x1.5. No idea why they arent metric. The factory h-pipe doesn't need nuts because the flange holes are threaded.

GM makes gaskets for that connection. If your mid-section is stock, the the mid pipe is threaded and no nuts are required.

It never occurred to me that the midpipe would be tapped for bolts. I'll seek out the proper size bolts at the hardware store, and see what the local parts stores have for gaskets.

Thank you both very much for your help!

Good info on gaskets but the bolts are not SAE. They are Metric on the factory pipes.

10mm x 1.5 x 35mm

I would have bet money that they were metric, so I checked to make absolutely sure. My LG midpipe doesn't use threaded holes, so I used 3/8 ss bolts/nuts to put it together. Those very same bolts spin freely into the factory mid pipe. Dunno. Maybe because the flange only has a few turns in it, if the threads are loose they'll take an imperial screw...

10mm = .3937
3/8" = .3750

There's your reason. Factory Metric holes are larger than 3/8".

I plan on getting either just an X-pipe or the Random Tech high-flow cats with x-pipe, so the stock H-pipe will be history. I'll wait to see which way I go before buying the fasteners.

Again, this forum has been an invaluable source of information. I applaud you all for your input.
