Diff whine
My question is do you think by jacking the rear end up and running it in gear with the wheels off the ground i may replicate the sound/vibration.
Also i just changed the gear lube and had the old stuff analized by Blackstone Labs, nothing jumped out as abnormal with 33,000 miles on factory lube.
BTW i have headers, aftermarket cats and Ti ex

It would be worth getting the car in the air to at least check the exhaust system for ground-outs (touching places it should not).
Other than changing fluid has there been any changes to the diff, mounts, or has the car been lowered?
I ran it with the wheels off the ground and as i expected (without a load on the drivetrain) nothing, i also for the second time checked for exh leaks by looking for exh steam (it was chilly today) and didn't see any except for what exited the tailpipes. I also tapped the cats with a large rubber mallet to hear for rattles and didnt hear anything abnormal.
Under the hood there didn't seem to be any leaks(steam or sound) from the header flanges that attach to the heads.
Thers one last thing i want to eliminate tommorrow and thats the upsized tires/rims recently installed(6 montha ago).
i have the OE's and while i would like to temp swap just the rears i dont think i can run 18's all around.
so i think i'll have to swap all four back to the originals and go for a ride, i dont think thats the prob cause iv had this combo on and i wasn't having any issues, also im not a hard driver,ie burnouts etc.
mostly highway cruiser

If nothing comes of the tire swap i guess im off to a tuner shop for professional diagnosis.

I bet it is the Pilot Bearing. That is very common on C5's and doesn't really hurt anything. G/L OH the pilot bearing as in the clutch?
