LSx V8 RX8 Coming Soon!
LSx V8 Powered Mazda RX8
(2003-Present)
We are proud to introduce one of the next projects from Hinson Motorsports. This RX8 was purchased recently for the sole purpose of developing the RX8 LSx V8 market.
This car was purchased with a turbo RENESIS 13B-MSP engine which made a staggering 256 hp and 180 ft-lb on our chassis dyno.
We are agressively working on this combination. Our schedule is to complete the initial build with a stock LSx engine and begin testing before the end of the year. Stayed tuned for more information.
It seems to me like the C5 Tech isn't quite the right place for your post. How does any of this info help someone with a C5?
In a stretch the General area might fit better then C5 Tech??

I wouldn't fit in General at all, nothing C5 related. However, the Moderators give the supporting vendors some latitude on posting. Since this is Tech and LSx is related, I think it's OK to post here.
I've seen some posts on other boards with LSx swaps in the Honda. Kind of like the small block engines people used to put in the little Triumphs and MG's of the past.
The little Honda and Mazda cars should be pretty interesting since they are so light weight. Surely will change the weight distribution and make these cars a little more nose heavy.
Hinson, any consideration to the suspension for this weight gain?

Dude really? 2 post saying pretty much the same thing because someone post something you have no interest in? Dont like it, move on and give the whining a rest.
The RX8 looks like an interesting swap, actually both do but it sure doesn't look like theres enough room in either for the swap; are you going to have to cut something up to make it fit?

Well “Dude” really!! It seems you are doing the whining. If you were to read what I wrote you could have seen that my original post was asking a question, not whining. In fact two questions to be exact. Obvious you miss read what I wrote as NO WHERE did I say I didn’t have any interest. Where are you coming up with this ?

I really don't have the time or desire to argue with you, you took the time to pee in both of his post about a project. Irregardless of where it belongs i'm interested as are others. You made no comments about the project other than to complain about where it should go, i.e. whine, get it? Done.
Now back on topic.
What drive line are you going to use? I've known people that did the rx7 swap and used the factory rear but the RX8 rear parts look kinda small.
Would be a super cool project esp with the weight of these cars.
Out of curiosity, how does a swap like this look to the emissions cops? How does it pass inspection? As long as it has no codes and everything appears to be intact is it a legal swap?

Most dont realize that the LS motors are very lightweight for being V8's, and once the RX8's engine and turbos are removed, new lightweight K-member installed and LSx engine in place the weight difference is minimal, about the same as adding a blower on a C5.
I must admit I am not a fan of the RX8's but I do love the 3rd gen rx7's and my next car will be one of those with a LS7 in it. However I am interested to see what the finished project looks like!
