I'm in the process of removing the drivetrain for a few reasons (primarily to repair my shifter linkage). Anyway I've disconnected just about everything in the rear and I was about to drop the rear cradle when I noticed that my brake lines are in the way. On the '97 and early '98 the ABS module is mounted on the rear cradle.
So my question is: "How do I drop the rear cradle with the ABS module being mounted to it?"
You'll need to remove the left EBCM support bracket, push the EBCM off the right bracket and tie it off to the body for support out of the way. It stays attached to the lines/body as you drop the rear xmember. The procedure ragtopws6 sends should illustrate that clearly.

but, be careful with the brake lines, they are easily broken and not easily replaced, ask me how I know, or dont. LOL
Make sure the brake lines clear the axles (which are popped out of the diff)as you lower the assembly, or you can mangle one or both pretty badly.
The good news is they'll take quite a bit of mangling, and still bend right back into shape.
At least mine did....
I'm sure it's better to just not mess them up,so when I pulled the drivetrain for the second time in 2 months,(bad pilot bearing)I was extra careful with them.
As for the brake lines, do be careful....I finally broke the DS one at the ABS unit:
Since its' over 12 years old and driven in all weather, some corrosion helped it fail as well.
Picked up a used pair for R&D as you have to bend them yourself or find used ones as GM doesn't carry them any more for those that don't make up lines.
I will be working with a vendor in the near future to make up new flex lines for both sides to do away with the pesky hard lines. Once I am finished, I will post it all up
