Default Balancer Pulley Change

I have just discovered my balancer is shot. Intermittent vibration on the highway made me look. My A/C compressor is now noisy and the obvious wobble. I am going to upgrade to the ASP 25% pulley since I have to do it anyhow. Probably buy one from another member. The question here is what else should I do while I have the front of my car torn apart? Some say a cam. Any recommendations? My car is a factory 02, 6-speed, Z06 exhaust, Vararam, Airbridge, SLP Diablo Sport tune. I'm not looking for extreme, but faster is always better to me. Emissions in GA are a concern as well. Merry Christmas to me! Too late to ask for Corvette parts gift cards? Thanks for the advice!

You'll have all of the difficult things done (steering rack, pull balancer etc,) so you might as well go ahead with a cam. Make sure to get a LS6 ported oil pump, Ls2 timing chain and new seals when you swap out

Be sure and budget in a good tune. Your handheld days will be over if you put a nice cam in that car. Be mindful of the overlap in the cam if emissions are an issue. In Texas, they just plug into the OBDII port and make sure that it has the necessary "status ready" conditions. If that's the way they do it there, a good tuner can tune any cam and keep your PCM happy.

Yep, they just plug in and go! Pretty much a joke! But still a pain in the ***. I'm gonna take it up to the corner and run emissions before I pull the balancer. That will get me a year to get it set up to go again. I don't expect that much procrastination though. Already getting the pulley and belts from Bluvette1.

If they just plug in and go, then pick a cam based on your driveability and power desires. A good tuner can tune a pretty nasty cam and retain a reasonable driving quality for you.

I agree!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have a fairly agressive cam and comply with ALL of the CT Emissions (plug in) standards.

If the PCM is happy with all of the emission sensors and engine data sensors that it monitors, you can run any size cam that you want. Tuners can even turn off/tune out pesky sensors like the rear after the CAT O2 sensors and or the A.I.R. Pump stuff. The plug in test is easy to pass if you have EFI Live or HP Tuners!

IF,,,,,,,,they run a sniffer test, a LARGE cam will most likely FLUNK because of the excessive hydrocarbons emissions.

We use to have a sniffer test here in CT. I put a NEW CAT in my 85 Coupe because the old CAT was plugged solid and the emissions stations operator ask me if my tail pipes were connected to my exhaust. The new CAT was so efficient that the readings were far below the the allowable limits for a 150,000 mile C4 corvette.
He broke out the mirror and inspected the entire exhaust system.

Ok then! The timing set, pulley, and belts will be ordered tomorrow. Any ideas where to find the LS6 ported oil pump? Still looking for a low dollar solution to the cam change. Seems like i need springs, retainers, pushrods if I change the cam. That runs up the dollar amount. What are the real world gains from a cam?

The snowball effect. I have the pulley, belts, and chain ready. I also have Manley 5/16X7.400 Chromoly pushrods $90 shipped. Let me know. Depending on cam size average 40-50 RWHP.
