This just seems to have started today. When I was driving the instument panel lights seemed to all be working but when the headlights came on the instrument panel lights went out. Had no instrument lights on the dash, radio, or a/c unit. When the headlights went off the instrument lights came back on. I have checked the fuses and they are good. I check all out side lights to make sure they were all working and they were. Any idea what could cause this or what I could look for?

Did you find an answer to this problem? I am experiencing the same thing. In my case the dash lights had gone through a few times where they went out for short periods of time but always came back on. The car was parked for a month or so and when I got back in the dash lights are never on when the lights are on.
We're having a similar issue with a '99 in our shop. Dash, radio, headlights go out intermittantly. CEL has not come on, we're going to scan it with the Tech II to see what is in the data log.
If you have the dimmer switch for the dash lights turned down, they will dim when the headlights come on and then brighten back up when the headlights go off. Try turning up the dimmer to a brighter position.
If your dimmer wasn't the cause and trust me, its happened to lots of people before, then there are more questions to ask. Assuming your dimmer is normal and yet the problem continues, during the daytime, are the HVAC, DIC and HUD displays all normal brightness or dim? At night, are they normal and controllable with the dimmer?
The dimmer was not my cause. I do have normal lighting from the radio, HVAC, DIC etc. and the dimmer switch adjust their brightness appropriately. I have bitten the bullet and purchased a used gauge cluster. I am going to put it in soon and will update everyone on whether that resolves the issue.
What connector had the corrosion? My car is having the same issues. I have not had a chance to look at it yet but would like a headstart on where to look.
