Default Obx or bbk headers ???

GUYS

NEED SOME HELP AND ADVISE, IM THINKING OF PURCHASING HEADERS FOR MY 2001 COUPE. THE VEHICLE HAS COLD AIR INTAKE , Z06 TI-CAT BACK AND TUNE. MY QUESTION WHICH ONE OF THESE SHORTY HEADERS (DONT CARE FOR THE LONG TUBE GUYS, THATS NOT MY QUESTION PLEASE) ARE BEST FOR MY VETTE. WHICH ONE GOES ON EASIER AND REQUIRES LESS MODS IF ANY. DO I NEED TO GET BIGGER BOLTS, GASKETS ETC. OR DO THEY BOLT ON AND DRIVE ?

THANKS MANNY

You should be able to use the same bolts---If the stock ones are not correct the manufacurer often includes a new set with the hdrs---
As far as the gaskets are concerned---I have found the stock GM 3-layer steel ones to be the best--Don't reuse the old ones as they are a one-time use item--They are a crush when tightening type gasket which makes an excellent seal---Either brand is fine---I think the BBK's are more expensive--probably a little better but most likely paying for the brand name--

Not sure where you live or if this even matters, but BBK's are 50 state smog legal. OBX's are cheaper because they didn't pay the premium to get a CARB EO#...and the fit and finish may not be as nice as BBK either. You may want to consider JBA shorties, as they are 50 state legal as well.

I would go with the BBK's or the JBA's, and order them ceramic coated from the manufacturer. I have B&B ceramic coated shorties and I'm very happy with them. You can find them for a real good deal if you shop around. Just my $0.02...

Thanks for the input, as for the bbk's , do they require any mods, or do they just bolt on and drive ? Considering i put a new gasket on .....

No mods needed if you buy the right header for your year, otherwise the air tubes may not line up. The headers should come with new collector bolts. New gaskets are a good idea, I went with the GM metal gaskets with the round ports...picked them up from GM parts direct. Let me know if you need part numbers.

Save your money on the shorty headers! Go with long tubes or nothing! A set of 01-04 Z06 exhaust manifolds are just as good as those brands you named. Save your money and buy a NOS kit, just my opinion though.
