My 2000 convertible is in need of new windshield wiper blades. Can anyone tell me how to remove the old wiper blades? Will I need to replace only the blades or the blades & arm assembly? Any suggestions will be appreciated.
The section with the rubber strip and piece that holds it can be replaced for like $20..any auto store will have them AND CHANGE THEM FOR YOU FOR FREE.
if you really want to take them off yourself it's just a clip on stype connector. You're just basically pushing down a tab then sliding the assembly off of the wiper arm.
If you search for "wiper blade removal" on youtube you will find a ton of videos.
I replaced my blades with the Anco contours. They have no metal bars and almost streak free (as close as you can get) They are $15.00 a piece. They also have a built in spoiler to help hold them on the windshield. They work very nice for snow as well (put a set on the wife's blazer). They do cost more, but It's the only wiper blade for me as I mine is a daily (rain or shine) driver.
there are lots of choices in price ranges from $7-$24 each.
Walmart has a broad selection and groups them into performance categories.
Some are the traditional metal framed, others plastic framed and the latest self contour blades . There are also options on rubber and rain-x impregnated blades
