Roller Rockers - Need Some Info
The stock rockers do vary from 1.7, but in favor of more lift. they are generally 1.73-1.75 and have seen 1.77, so the 1.8's are not a big of a lift increase as one might expect. Therefore not as much HP gain as the older small blocks and LT1's when you went from the 1.5's to 1.6's. Now that works great. Roller tips would be nice to have, but the stockers seem okay at this point.
I have used the Jesel non adjustables with a custom ground cam and prefer that method. The adjustable Jesels are nice, but need different covers or spacers. Now if Crane would offer their kit in a 1.7 ratio and keep the rest of the parts the same to be adjustable, then that would be great and sell like crazy I believe. Perfect for heads/cam cars with milled heads to set geometry.
I have seen the Hot Rockers, and they may be fine for a lower spring pressure and lower RPM application, but high seat and open pressures that we use these days to get 425+WHP I would think reliabiltywould be a long term issue. Plus the stockers, once again, seem to do very well considering.
Later,
Mike
