i hope this is not a dumb question, but can x-pipes be mounted on shorty headers. And are all x-pipes created equal ? Any recommendation ? I now have a set of bbk shortys, halltech venom and dyno/tune on a 2002 c5 coupe.
You can use a rear x-pipe (replacing the h-pipe). I have never seen a shorty header set-up with the x-pipe up front. If thats what you want, it can always be made.
You could add a x pipe to the stock midpipe. You would see little gains. You could just pick up some longtubes and a matching x pipe to see some actual gains.
Manny, I have B&B shorties and a bassani x-pipe. The x-pipe fits after the cats, so there are no smog implications to worry about. I would stick with a "true X" design like bassani, magna flow, WCC. They produce little to no HP, but do change the sound of the exhaust to get rid of the "motor boat" sound that some complain about.
