I have an '01 vert that doesn't like cold weather. When it gets close to freezing outside, the HUD will display the oil pressure and my odometer appears upon starting my car. When the weather stays warm, this never happens. My odometer stays off and the HUD displays the gas gauge. Does anyone know why this is happening?????
I have the same problem, happened yesterday morning. Doesn't happen too often, just when the weather is around the mid 20's. It is good to know that I am not crazy.
Is there any chance you guys are turning on the lights (parking lights especially) when it is cold (and dark).. that causes the odometer to show. As for the HUD, I don't think it shows anything but the oil pressure!? It should be higher when its cold (more closely match the fuel level then?).

The HUD allows you to page through and display a few gauge settings. I am not sure if the HUD options changed from one model year to the next. I have an '01. I normally display the tachometer, speedometer and fuel level in the HUD. These are the settings that I see each time I start the car.
For some reason, when it is very cold out (mid 20's), the fuel level is replaced with the oil pressure. Tach and speed still there, it is just the oil pressure that is brought to the forefront. Not very often though, this has happened to me 3 or 4 times and I have had the car for about a year and a half.
