I PM'd Bill Curlee, but haven't gotten an answer as yet, and did an extensive search on the subject. Car: 2000 Vert, with 67k miles. Problem: Drove in the fog yesterday, and used the headlights. When I reached my destination, the lights would not go down or go off.
The switch was cycled several times, and the lights would go down momentarily (not on every cycle), but would pop right back up and remain on. No other lights are on when the switch is off. With the switch in the park position, the headlights go out, but the tail lights are on. The only way I could get the lights down and off was to pull fuse 54. Once back home, I found with the fuse in, the lights still stayed up even with the battery disconnected.
Going through the diagnostics in the manual, I'm coming up with a faulty multi function switch. Before I leap into buying a new one, I'm asking if there's anything I might be overlooking. Thanks ahead of time to any who respond. Jack Gentle
Just to update. It was indeed the multifunction switch. My thanks to all forum members who've posted about similar problems and trouble shooting techniques. My special thanks to the members who referred to the step by step instructions and the ebay site to avoid "stealership" pricing on the replacement. Whole job took about an hour, and now I have a fully functioning C5 again. This site is an incredible source of information and money saving ideas! Jack
