Ok guys, tell me whats wrong. Last weekend I went to start the vette and let it run for a while and the battery was completly dead. I havent started it in about 2-months. I put a 6amp battery charger on it and when I did, something up towards the MAF senser started to click about every 2-seconds. I disconnected the charger and when to make sure te key was out of the ignition. It was. I hooked it back up and it did the same thing about every 2-seconds I would here a click and would see the interior lights flicker everytime you would here the click. I also seen where all my gauges were flickering everytime the charger would click. I disconnected the battery charger and pulled the battery out and had it tested. The battery is shot so Im putting in a red top Optima next weekend. Did something get screwed up when I put the charger on to make all the gauges max out everytime the battery charger pulsed?
Going out on a limb here, but I don't think you did any damage. Your battery was dead, probably froze up with the cold you guys recently experienced. Everything I have seen on this Forum related to low or dead batteries refers to relays clicking and weird stuff happening with the electrical systems. As such, when you put the charger on, it still could not accept the charge and the computers would interpret that as low battery voltage, thus all the crazy gauge stuff and relays clicking. I think when you install the new battery everything will be OK.
You'll need to disconnect the battery and charge it, if it'll accept the charge. Once its up to a minimum of 12.5 vdc across the terminals, then reconnect it and try to start it up. Your battery may be done anyway so be prepared to buy a new one.
