It's a long shot, but does anyone know if there is another source other than the dealer for the shims used to preload the differential bearings? It would be nice if someone sold an assortment pack, so you'd be assured of being able to make the right stack without having to stop and special order individual shims.
Those are a precious commodity! Unless you have diff cores laying around, I don't know any vendor/company selling those other than GM. Ask me how I know......

I get all my trans/diff parts from RPM. Rodney would part with most things he has around the shop but NOT the side shims! LOL. I also have called, emailed most of the diff companies I could find on the net and they do not have any. So 2 sources, cores or GM.

I like people with soild answers! GM wants about $4.50 a pop, so I guess I measure twice, then special order.
Thanks for the replies!
Edit: Solid answers are also accepted.
