A4 Downshifting?
Does anyone know what speeds are safe to downshift an A4 trans into 3rd/2nd/1st? I'm too nervous to try anything, and I know there's people out there who do it all the time, so help a guy out :D Thanks in advance! :cheers:

The clutches for a 3-2 manual downshift are fairly good; when running on a road course I will manually downshift at up to 55 mph which produces about 4,000 rpm in 2. The 4-3 downshift uses a different set of clutches which are said to be not as good, don't do it on a regular basis. My speed/RPM numbers are with the 3.15 axle.
As posted above, the downshift can really upset the car. On the course, I do it only in the braking zone, going straight. That's good technique for the street, too.
