The lighting has died in my heater control. It appears to be illuminated with LED's.Is it possible to repair it? If so where can I find replacement LED's?
The car is my daily driver so I would not want to keep it apart for days. If I can't pull it out, solder some new LED's in it and put it back in, I will
wait until it annoys me enough to replace it.
They are not LED's for the switch and background lighting. Forum member Tstar has all the info on the lamp requirements, typically a 70ma 12 vdc will provide the correct brightness.
A friend of mine has the same problem and in a post not long ago some one said they fixed theirs by rapping on the area. I e-mailed my buddy and he said it works for anywhere from a day or two to a couple of weeks before he has to bang on it again. I think it has to do with a bad connection and the jarring gets it going again.
OK thanks. I had it apart a couple of months ago and did not see anything that looked like lamps. but I will take it apart again and take a closer look. At that time it was a couple of buttons and the illumination behind the DS control. Since then the PS dial went out and the only button left working is the AC button. I would suspect a connection if they all failed at once, but it has happened over 6 months.
I don't remember the total count but it was like 11 of them or similar. Replace them all. Send a PM to Tstar and he'll advise on the lamps. If not, let me know because I have a source that I used and they worked great but involve a little more effort.
