Mine has never worked, and after several years of not really caring, I decided to see what's going on. How does this thing work exactly ? Does it work like my trunk lights that shut off after a few minutes even with the lid open ?
Also, the bulb doesn't seem to fit very well, I have the right one according to the book, but I can't get it to work at all.
Any advice would be very appreciated !
Not sure but I think it's a gravity switch that senses when the hood is closed but on my vert it stayed lit until almost completely closed making me wonder if parked on an incline would affect it. So I just pulled the bulb. It doesn't throw that much light anyway and I always keep a small flashlight in one of the compartments if I do need emergency lighting. What might be better is the addition of a manual "ON/OFF" switch in connection with the existing switch but I'm making this way too complicated. Sorry
Well thanks for the help guys, I still am having some issue, I can't seem to get a teat light to even come on, and I've checked the fuses. I can live with not having it, that's for sure.
Gotta admit though, I liked the two-light system on my C4 better.
The bulb metal ends fit over the contacts. If you tried to put the bulb between the contacts you my have spread them apart. The light is switched on when you raise the hood. It does stay on at a low angle when you close the hood but the light is one of the ones connected to the Retained Accessory Power control feature of the BCM. When the light is on for 15 minutes the BCM will shut it down. Thus there is no need to worry about it running down your battery unless the battery is on its last legs.
