i just did mine yesterday i captured all the fluid i drained out dropped pan installed new filter and and filled as instruted ran thru gears quick test drive rechecked level i drained out 4.5qts and filled with 4.5qts
Well, I'm sure results will vary.......and just because you took out 4.5 quarts...does not mean it was full.
When they flushed it, are you sure that they used your ATF? Normally, when they flush, they use the new fluid to push out the old. The pump they use is normally already filled with their bulk ATF.

Car had 87k miles on it and It is safe to assume it had the stock ATF in it.
Hey Lucky, go some where else to be an AS$H@L* your responses have no informational value what so ever. If I remember right that is what the forum is for, to share. By the way the GM c5 vette manuel is old and things do change that is why most of us come here.
Share something of value or go away.

Maybe it does not mean the drained ATF filled the pan, but when you bring her up to operating temp and level the car and run it through the gears to put fluid in the valve bodies and clutch packs, all you have to do is fill it until it runs out the fill/check hole. It won't hold any more. When its full, its full.
If you want more, put a large capacity 4L60E aluminum pan on. Check first and make sure it has a fill/drain plug.
Personally, I think the ATF "exchange" machines don't clean anything and just change the fluid. No way to inspect the pan for metal, etc.. Take it easy on the new guys. Last time I checked there was no documented correlation between horsepower and intelligence.
Priceless.......you don't have a f*#king clue........
Lucky is a very smart guy. I would definitely listen to what he has to say. He has helped me numerous times. That being said, I read that DEX III is going away and now GM is recommending DEX VI. Is that true? I went ahead and put the Valvoline DEX VI in my car.
