Default Remaining DTC Issues

Well, my rebuild/repair work continues....

This is an '02 coupe. I had to swap out the BCM and just got it back from having the dealer program in the proper RPO codes. At least now I can see what DTCs I actually have an not a collection of phantom codes.

I already have the Service Manuals, but figured I'd post them out here in case someone sees something in common with them, or might suggest other options.

Here's what's left....

99-HVAC
B0441 - left HVAC actuator out of range
B0446 - right HVAC actuator out of range

These seem pretty common, and I've tried the easy DIC reset fix. I can certainly pull the dash and reindex/replace when I get in there.

28-TCS
C1286 - Steering Sensor Bias Malfunction
C1287 - Steering Sensor Rate Malfunction

The guess is the steering wheel position sensor. Man, those are tough to get to, but while I'm in there getting the HVAC actuators I might as well pull the column and swap out the sensor.

I've also got an issue with the steering wheel not telescoping, in or out. The wheel tries to move when you activate the switch, but it never actually moves. Has anyone had theirs simply bind up? Is there an actuator motor or gearbox in there?

10-PCM
P1275 - APP Sensor 1 Circuit
P1276 - APP Sensor 1 Circuit Performance

The rebuild work involved putting new pigtails on both TAC connectors out at the module. I'm 99.9% sure I got those wires back correctly, but I know on the 10 pin connector there were two light blue wires. I was pretty sure I matched them up correctly, but maybe I got them backwards. The trouble with that though is the Light Blue wires were from APP Sensor 2 and the 5 volt reference. I can't imagine getting those swapped would have caused a problem with APP Sensor 1 (which was Dark Blue).

Anyone know anything that might connect all of these together? I know it's wishful thinking, but maybe they all run through the same connector or share the same ground/etc.

I'm already going through cleaning the chasis grounds, and like I said I have the Service Manuals. However, let's face it, some of these involve quite a bit of digging into the dash, so I figured if anyone has any short cut suggestions, I'd be willing to give those a shot before I burn a few weekends with the dash ripped apart.

Thanks,

Pete

I have had the P1287. The dealer replaced it for ~$250 labor plus SPWS part $80. I didn't want to mess with the airbag "stuff".

As far as the HVAC being related, that's a tough one. The only possible connections between the two I feel are Power or Ground.

I'm not familiar with the APP circuit. What is it?

Good luck

Yeah, I had the dealer throw me a quote on the C1287 and it was more like $520, plus the $80 part. I think that's got a full weekend of my time at some point. The real pain is I think that's the one that's causing the "service active handling" scroll, so I suspect I'd have to get it addressed prior to any safety inspection for registration.

That's kind of why I though I might start with the grounds. For all I know they might all run to exactly the same grounding block somewhere that's either corroded, or simply broken loose. I don't think I'll get that lucky, but hey you never know.

APP is the accelerator pedal position, in other words the gas pedal.

Thanks
