I have a 2001 Z06, I have done some burnouts but they are not that great. I dont press the brake because ive heard that you can do it with out pressing it and do it well.
I rv to 4500 and let go of the clutch fast. and then i feather it 4000-5000 rpm. But it always goes forward and doesnt stay and burnout. I catches traction a little. Wut am i doing wrong??
Can i do a burnout 2nd gear?? Should i rev higher??
Without brake torquing it you will always go foward, you are getting some traction even with the tires spinning at 45MPH. but think of it as the fact that every second of smoke is $20 down the drain
For me its more like $2 a whole burnout. I got my back tires both for 50 bucks. i buy used from a dealer that is a friend. A while back haters slashed 2 new tires. I now only get used.
It's been proven by Mustang drivers for years. All the smoke makes your car faster. One second may cost 20 bucks, but it gives you 10whp. (Only on street tires though)

HAHA! Oh really? I didnt realize that...good to know. Damn! Too bad I dont drive a Ford.
Not to mention the rocket car fart can out back adding all the extra boost! Classic.
Not to hijack the thread though...a slow roll through the water (we wouldn't do this on public streets, right), 2nd gear burn. A line lock is even better if you have it!
Where are doing this? On a normal surface it shouldn't be too hard. On a drag strip it might be harder. I could easily burn up the tires on my Z and had to be careful not to when I was autocrossing. You don't need massive amounts of RPMs. All I had to do was be revving over 2200 rpm and let the clutch out. As the car started to move if I nailed the throttle the rear tires would boil. That was with 315/17 Kumho 710 R compound tires on the rear.
To keep from spinning too much I would slip the clutch and modulate the throttle until the tires hooked. Depending on the surface sometimes I had to drop the revs to 2000 to keep from spinning too much.
