A couple of days ago a coworker had his G8 throttle stick wide open. After talking with another coworker, he heard of a hot rod with a transplanted engine (I don't know what that one had) with a similar incident in a parking lot seriously damaging the car.
The corvette also had a throttle by wire system, but I was wondering if anybody else heard of them problem. My coworker friend got hurt pretty badly jumping a curb, slamming a wall and totaling the car.
I was seriously thinking of doing an f-body throttle by cable swap.
The f-body cable swap wont work. The computer would throw fits if it's cut out of the loop... tc, abs, etc are tied into the system.
Never heard of this issue on C5s or C6s. Perhaps it's just like the Toyota thing were faulty pedal assemblies were installed in G8s that stick.
Being a skilled driver I would immediately hit the clutch pedal and then kill the ignition if the pedal stuck... same thing happened to me when I was drivng a 1965 327/365 4 spd.
The linkage/cable got caught on the distributor shield when I was backing out of a parking spot and the rpm skyrocketed... I clutched it, but by the time I killed the ignition switch the rpm had just swung past 8k rpm. The car was fine, and everything checked out on the engine after fixing the cable.

I probably would hit the clutch and let it just hit the rev limiter and be okay. The idea of whole incident just bothered me. I don't have exact details because I haven't spoken to him yet. I don't know if it got stuck or the electronics lost its mind and stuck wide open or stuck at part throttle. I do know he bent the brake pedal and left and long set of tracks with the front brakes. His G8 is also a six speed auto.
