Try removing the shifter and move the shifter rod by hand. Does it go into and out of 4th? If it's still stuck in 4th, you have internal problems (broken synchro key most likely).

Did you lock the shifter in the neutral position before you removed it?

Can you shift the tranny with the engine OFF? If not,,try disconnecting the shift rod from the shift housing and see if you can move the shift rod.

nope cant move her . it feels like something is not letting it come out of gear. i tried disconnecting both soleniods, did nothing. removed both soleniods again did nothing. cant move rod out of 4th with hand. the trans is new so its not a internail issue, i was able to move the gear selector before i installed the trans. did i miss something

Either your shifter is improperly aligned or binding.

Your tranny has internal damage.

At this point it would be best to drop the complete system and see what's going on.

I always test the tranny's shifter when everything is on the ground before installing.

Disconnect the shifter from the shift rod (connection just behind the shift housing) and attempt to shift the trans with the disconnected linkage. Also check to see if the shifter can be shifted when its disconnected.

Try rocking the car or have some people rotate the rear wheels forward & rearwad (jog the tranny) while attempting to shift it out of gear. If that fails,,,remove the tranny and figure out whats wrong.
