Default Shifting problem question

Today I went for a drive and my Z wouldn't go into gear. Did a clutch fluid change 3 weeks ago, it drove fine. Did another because the fluid was still a little brown. Took it for a drive today and the pedal was a little softer, got a couple of miles down the road and it would not go into any gear.

Held it close to second and it finally fell into gear when it started moving(think it was somewhat in gear already). Got home and with the car shut off it goes into gear fine, but with the car running it won't.

When I pulled it into my garage it would crawl unless the pedal was on the floor. Usually the engagement point is halfway through the pedal travel. What could be the issue. Tranny fluid?

Did another clutch fluid swap and I'm going to try it again, but it only started happening after the second clutch fluid swap.

Slave cylinder is going out.

(assuming you've checked fluid levels and there are no leaks)

Levels are good and there are no visible leaks.

Does the slave cylinder go out that quick?

On mine it started not being able to get into gear from a stop when cold.. would work decently after being warmed up. It slowly deteriorated from there though to the point that I could barely get out of the parking lot one morning.

And I happened to be in college and in desperate need to get a girl from the night before back to her place before my gf showed up when it really started to go out hahahaha

Nice, I just tried another clutch fluid swap to no avail.

Looks like a slave cylinder swap is next. Is it easy to do in a garage?

It's easy the second time, lol

Wait for some other people to chime in to confirm.. but that's my experience.

You have to drop the rear cradle and disconnect the torque tube from the engine. it's not hard really but can be time consuming. how many miles on the car? might be worth doing the clutch while it's apart.. i went ahead and did it on mine

If you can shift into all the gears when the engine is off and having problems going into gears with the engine running? Definately the clutch. Normally shops charge around 10 hours for the clutch install since they have to remove the torque tube (same for the slave cylinder). This wouldn't be a simple DIY job but can be done in the garage if you have the tools and time. It would be a good idea to do the clutch while they/you are in there.
