Default Looking for Gauge Cluster Schematic

I am looking into using a C5 gauge cluster in a project. I need to find out some electrical information on the cluster. Not just pinouts but input signals for all the gauges, and electrical schematics for the cluster itself.

Thanks.

The internal IPC schematics are GM/DELPHI proprietary and there are not any schematics available. The service manuals have all the pin outs and info necessary to allow you to purchase a sensor or simulate the signal necessary to allow the IPC to function.

The only thing that you may have an issue with simulating is the serial data buss signal

Thats what I was afraid of.

Anyone know of any place I can find a copy of the service manual pages for the IPC? Rather not buy an entire manual for those couple pages.

I am really just interested in using the gauges and maybe some of the indicator lights. Not looking to use the information center.

Byron beat me to the schematics. I just got them up and copied and there they were.

Thanks Byron

Thanks, the wiring diagrams help some. Unfortunately, they don't tell the expected input signal for stuff like the tach and speedo. And the coolant, fuel, and oil pressure gauge are going to take some research.

Does anyone know what the coolant gauge is internally, just a stepper motor or a magnetic based gauge that receives a voltage from the serial link logic.

matthud, I don't know what your working on, but you've got the three best that we have here interested. If they can't help I'd say abandon ship ..."pear"

I am trying to retro fit a C5 gauge cluster to a stand alone ecu on a different vehicle. My ECU can do generic CANbus and I was going to connect it to a microprocessor to process it into analog voltages to drive the gauges. Since a couple of those gauges use the serial data interface I was hoping to remove that interface and control the gauges directly.

So basically I was trying to find information on what the required signals were to drive the tach/speedo and other gauges.

matthud, how's this for a (un) educated guess? I'd bet all the guages are driven a variable DC voltage, output by the Logic circuit. Maybe wrong, if so we'll hear about it, and I'll have to stand the heat!

Ok, here is another question about the gauge clusters and specifically the J1850 protocol, or Class 2 Serial.

I know that the cluster in the C5s use the J1850 protocol for the secondary gauges. Can anyone tell me if the cluster requests data on the network, or does the pcm send this data to the cluster without requests?
