I would like for this not to ever come on. Makes the car drive like crap. Is there any way to permantly disable it?? Thanks
I wouldn't recommend that. You might mess yourself and you car up real bad.
But one easy way to disable it permanently is to disconnect one of the wheel sensors or pull the fuse the controls the TCS. Most likely that will permanently disable your anti-lock brakes too, so i don't know if that bothers you too.
if you (or someone you know has) hp tuner you can disable it
Not true. HP Tuner can't touch the EBTCM. The EBTCM controls the TC function. When it determines that TC is needed it requests a torque reduction from the PCM. The PCM acknowledges that request with a return signal. If the PCM cannot supply sufficient torque reduction the EBTCM will apply one or both of the rear brakes. You can verify this yourself by putting a tire on the rear with a smaller diameter than the front tires (swap front and rear wheels) and as soon as you start to move the car the EBTCM will apply the brakes. With the engine on it will prevent you from coasting down hill in nuetral. Too many people think tuners can do more than it is possible to do.
I'm running 11 inch rims and 315s all the way around..I just prefer to DRIVE the car without it shutting down every time I wish to hang a corner. I would gladly lost the ABS brakes as well.I don't care. This car is never used in crappy weather. I turn it off manually but I'd like it to never come on.

Then pull the ABS fuse. That kills the EBTCM. You will get lights on the instrument panel and a couple Service messages but you can hit reset to turn them off. Just make sure you replace the fuse when you sell the car or tell the next owner what you did to Fxxx up the car.
Thanks Bill... I might give that a try..I'm the only driver of this car and I won't be selling it anytime soon.. I had a 2000 and the control on that wasn't that noticible for street driving but the one on this 98 is terrible. First time I drove it I thought I had a fuel delivery issue it was so bad.
good day! I picked up efi live and it shut it off! You go in and change different tables ! Go to efi live.com ,you can also pick it up through summit racing.

You can reset the TC-induced timing and ETC reduction values easy enough...what did you do to prevent rear brake application?

My 98 does not have active handling.
I zero out all the TC tables in the PCM with HP tuner and can spin the wheels without hitting the button to turn off the TC
