Default Performance upgrade

I have a 97 C5 I have owned for 10 years now. I have done a lot of modifications to it including new interior, rearend, torque converter, wheels, spoiler, headers, and lights. I love the car and intend to keep it until I get too old to drive or kick the bucket.

I very much want to take it to Lingenfelter for a 383 or 427 engine and transmission rebuild since it is an automatic. has anyone done this? and if so is it worth the money? What are the pluses and minuses of doing this?

Thanks

I'd say the minus is the premium you'll pay for anything that has a Lingenfelter name on it. There was a time when they were one of the few players in modding factory platforms.......but those days are long gone. There are plenty of quality performance shops that specialize in C5's, that can provide the complete package.......at significantly less cost.

I haven't personally been to the LPE shop in Indiana, but I have spent some time and money at John's son-in-law's shop in Dallas.
I'd say the plus would be that you'd definitely get very high quality work and attention to every detail, backed by a world of C5 knowledge and experience. They may not be better than some other top shops, but they are definitely in the top tier of Vette tuners.

So, yeah, shop around; plenty of info/opinions on all the major guys right here in the Forum.
