Wiring diagram DRL experts needed
I do not have access to a wiring diagram so I am in need of some help pretty please. I want to install the switchback LED's in my car, BUT I want to "deacitivate" the DRL (Daytime Running Lights).
What I would like to have is the following:
Headlights OFF - NO DRL's (white LED's OFF). I still want the amber portion to flash during turn signal or hazard switch operations.
Parking lights ON or headlights ON - I want the white portion of the switchbacks ON (white LED's ON). I want the amber portion to flash during turn signal or hazard switch operation.
Is this "mod" possible? I dont want any DIC codes popping up either. I am fully comfortable cutting wires, splicing, adding diodes or relays, etc. But since I dont have a wiring diagram I cant "build" the circuit.
Please advise and I thank you all in advance for any assistance you can offer. Oh ya, my car is a 2002 Z06.

Something close to my set up will give you what you want. I'm not familiar with the switchbacks but I assume its a plug and play replacement bulb? What I have is:
T85 headlights with a park light bulb added into the housing. This is spliced into the parking light circuit (the side housing on the cluster). This part is not relevant for what you want to do but if you look closely you can see the glow from the small bulb at the bottom of the cluster

DRLs inhibited. You have two choices. Pull the A2 fuse in the engine fuse panel. This is easily reversible but you lose the approach lights function. The more permanent solution is the relay mod (courtesy Forum member Jochen). Pull the #38 and #40 relays in the footwell. Either fit jumpers across two terminals (I can send you the detailed instructions. PM me with your e mail) or open up the relay and fit an insulator between the contacts. This way you retain the approach lights. Either way you will generate B0502 and B0507 DIC fault codes. This is the car telling you that the DRLs are inhibited. You won't get any DIC warnings though. You'd need to pull the codes before you'd know that they were flagged up. With both these solutions the back up light work normally.
Inhibited DRL and park lights on the turn signal bulb. You have 3 wires going into the lamp holder. A blue for T/S, a brown for parking lights and a common ground. Pull the T/S bulb and snip the brown wire and tie it back. This inhibits the parking lights from operating. The T/S and hazards will operate normally. If you don't inhibit the DRLs the T/S bulb will still show amber even though the park light circuit is inhibited. In other words you need to snip the brown and inhibit DRLs to get what you want.

The only difference with my fit is I retained the stock amber lens on the side of the clusters, albeit with a white bulb in the parking light bulbholder. My parking lights show amber on the move but as its on the side of the cluster it's legal. I'm not allowed amber DRLs showing to the front. If you have the white clusters you'll get white on the normal parking light circuit.
BTW the pic in my signature caught the T/S on. Its not DRLs!

We reposition the park lamp into the front of the housing in the same vecitity as the amber turn signal. You will need to cut out a hole in the housing to do this. I just make a template from where i remove the park signal from to get the right shape and size. That way when you put on the park lamps they are clear and iluminate the clear part of the lense and the turn signal operates as normal and is amber. The amber lense on the side of the housing now acts as a reflector only

The A2 fuse works fine. The relay mod is better as it retains the approach lights.
I'd fit T85s for dipping left but many UK members go for other solutions. Some guys use a lamp built into the area next to the fog light. ssmith512 will be looking for a LHD solution so I'd suggest he doesn't cut into the lens as its not necessary. He can achieve what he wants with just using the white turn signal lenses.

I often thought about setting up an import business here in UK. Sadly the exchange rate and the economy decided the fate of that one.The conversions look great. We're so close to France and the EU that LHD cars are commonplace here. I doubt UK owners would have the incentive to go for the RHD mod. Nice though
