Evening, kids. I was thinking that the filter on my Vararam needs to be changed/cleaned. But JW told me that I would have to buy a whole new top AND filter, which would be about a hundred bones. Less than favorable price for a simple filter change. I was really wondering if there was any interchangeability in air filters. For instance, would K&N possibly carry a filter of the same dimensions? I'm really not sure if I'm willing to spend a hundred bones on an air filter. What do yall think? Thanks
VaraRam sells just the filter....
Do you have an older unit that has the foam filter? or the newer one with the cloth filter?
If you have the older model then you need both the filter and new gaskets to use the cloth filter.
But I have never heard of anyone having to change the top...
PM CF member VaraRam Industries or call Vararam directly.
I bought a K&N for mine when I had it. The filter was for a Triumph (mid-70's as I remember) and need to be trimmed slightly to fit. I then siliconed it in place so it wouldn't leak. Have photos I can dig up if you need them.

If you have the exact dimensions, contact S&B FILTERS or K&N FILTERS.
I know that S&B will custom build any filter to your specs. I believe that K&N now offers the same service. S&B will even give the choice of media color and colored or chrome ends in your filter is of the conical design. Their filters are oil/cotton gauze media. They make the filters for many after market air intakes, including HALLTECH.
Turn around time is quick and cost wasn't but a couple of dollars more than something off the shelf. Once they made mine for a GM non Corvette application, they even added the specs to their database for future reference.
I PMed Vararam, just waiting on a response. I've heard people say the GREEN VR filter is the new one. Mine is definitely not green. Looks like it used to be white. Absolutely filthy.
