Default Performance Questions

Im new to Corvettes, but I recently bought a 2001 z06, Its stock right now with about 50k miles on the clock. I recently bought a BBK cold air intake, a spec clutch, and Magnaflow Axle-back exhaust. Im looking for a little more power, any suggestions on some basic performance mods? I appreciate the help in advance.

How much more are you looking for and how much do you want to spend? Longtube headers, a x pipe, and a tune will be a good next step to you mods. Then gears, tires, cam, ud pulley, ect.

Going from what you just said, I looked up some LG headers and I'm looking to get these ones. What do you think and should I get catted or non-catted?? Also would you recommend anything like a performance chip for the ECU, or is that stuff childs play?? Thanks

Depending on how deep your pockets are, it may not matter, but although LGs are excellent headers, there are some other excellent headers available for about 1/2 the price, which means you would be able to headers along with a couple of other mods for the same price

What would those be? LG streets are $1195 with cats, and include everything required for the install. Who makes a complete system with cats, that requires no additional parts for install........at $600?

One of the most important questions before asking about power increases would be, what do intend to do with the car? Fast street car. Fast strip car? Fast roadcourse car? combination of all three? There are a lot of choices, take your time and decide what it is you want. There are a lot of guys on here who have built very nice cam/big cube cars, only to want a supercharger later.

Im looking for better acceleration and torque. Nothing to crazy, I would just like to feel more power. Im looking to spend no more than three grand for now.

Im looking for a fast street car, mostly a daily driver with the occasional visit to the strip.

Great advice here from someone who has "been there, done that".
Just an FYI, there is no such thing as a "performance chip" for the C5,
you need to get your car tuned by someone who knows what they are doing using software such as HPTuners, LS1edit or EFILive.
As far as headers go, there are plenty of choices out there and every now and then a great deal shows up in the parts for sale section on a good used set. Other brands to consider: Kooks, ARH,
Dynatech, Stainless Works, Melrose, QTP, Texas Speed, and I would even take a look at OBX too. Yeah, they're made overseas, but they are an all stainless knock off of the Dynatech Supermaxx headers at half the price and they have good reviews. (be aware that there are some "name brand" LT's that also come from overseas)
Hope this helps.

Based on the fact that you have a manual car and have already purchased a cold air intake, I would recommend long tube headers with hi-flow catalytic converters and a street tune. I am not familiar with the BBK cold air intake but my personal preferences are the Callaway Honker or the Vararam cold air intake.

ECS can do a cam only (cam/springs/retainers/belts/tune etc) for around 3 grand. Save up a little more and do the headers at the same time, it'll be worth it. With headers already on my car, ECS did a cam only on my car, I gained 68ish(can't remember exactly) rwhp. Good luck, lets us know what way you went.
